This workshop is for teachers interested in exploring ideas and activities for structuring language learning around the pedagogy of the European Language Portfolio and embedding it within their courses. We will look at ways of using the ELP as a resource for authentic target language use through tasks and activities which promote both individual and collaborative work and also as a means for promoting learner awareness of their language skills and abilities.
 


 
Amy Han and Gillian Davies are English language teachers at the University of Padova and have been actively involved in promoting the use of the European Language Portfolio since the CercleS version was adopted by the Language Centre on an experimental basis in 2002. They are particularly interested in exploring ways of fostering language learning strategies which help develop learner autonomy. They are also interested in the uses of technology in language learning and teaching, how to provide students with an authentic as possible exposure to the language(s) they are studying and foster a learning environment where students can develop confidence in and awareness of their language learning.
